Presentation and theme settings control how your survey looks to participants and how they move through it — colors, background, logo, corner rounding, navigation, and the welcome and end text they read. They affect presentation only: adjusting them never alters your questions, logic, or collected responses, so you can experiment freely.
This article covers the new editor; the classic interface is mapped at the end.
Open theme options
- Open your survey in the editor.
- In the left icon rail, select Presentation (the paint-bucket icon).
The panel has two tabs — Theme options (how the survey looks) and Presentation (how participants navigate and read it) — with a live preview of your survey on the right. Changes appear in the preview immediately and save automatically; a "Saved at" indicator shows the last save, and there is no save button.
Note: the available Theme options depend on the survey theme you have selected. Some themes expose different options, or do not support every appearance setting described here.
Appearance: colors, fonts, and background
The Appearance section of Theme options sets:
- Fonts — the survey's typeface (default IBM Sans).
- Font color — the main text color participants see.
- Background color — the page background behind the survey.
- Question background color — the fill of each question card.
- Theme color — the accent color used for buttons and highlights.
- Check icon — the icon style used for selected choices.
- Background image — switch to Yes to reveal a file upload/drop zone and place your own image behind the survey.
Keep text readable against your chosen colors — check the live preview on a question with answer options before sharing the survey.
Logo
The Logo section (also in Theme options) adds a logo to your survey. Set Logo to Yes to reveal a Logo file upload, then pick or drop an image file (up to 40 MB).
Display options
The Display options section fine-tunes layout:
- Corner radius — how rounded cards and buttons are: 0, 4, or 20 px.
- Hide privacy info — Yes/No; hides the privacy notice participants otherwise see.
- Wrap tables — Always on, Small screens, or Off; controls whether wide answer tables wrap to fit the screen.
- Show 'Clear all' button — Yes/No; lets participants clear their answers and start over.
- Question help text position — Top or Bottom; where a question's help text appears.
- Show popups — Popup, On page, or No; whether notices appear in a popup or inline on the page.
- Fix automatically numeric value — Yes, For expression, or No; whether numeric values are corrected automatically.
Navigation and display behavior
The panel's second tab, Presentation, controls how participants move through and read the survey:
- Display — progress bar, a "No answer" option, group name and description visibility, question number and code, on-screen keyboard, and the Question index (Enabled / Disabled / Incremental).
- Language specific display — language, date format, decimal mark (Dot or Comma), and survey alias.
- Navigation — automatically load the end URL on completion, allow backward navigation, navigation delay, and let participants print their answers.
- Public statistics — publish public statistics and choose whether to show graphs in them.
Text elements
Your survey's written framing — title, welcome message, and end message — is edited directly on the canvas, not in a settings panel:
- Survey title — click the title at the top center of the editor and type.
- Welcome message — click the Welcome screen at the top of the canvas and edit the text inline.
- End message — click the End screen at the bottom of the canvas ("Enter your end message here.") and edit the text participants see after finishing.
A floating toolbar offers bold, italic, links, and alignment.
Using the classic editor?
On installations using the classic admin interface, the same ground is covered by three panels under the survey's Settings menu:
- Text elements — title, description, welcome/end messages, end URL, date format, decimal mark.
- Theme options — theme variations and fonts, colors, background image, brand logo, inheritance from global settings, and advanced CSS/JS options.
- Presentation — navigation and display behavior such as the question index, progress bar, backward navigation, question numbering, and welcome-screen visibility.
These classic panels still expose a few advanced options the new editor omits — notably theme inheritance from global settings and custom CSS/JS — so use the classic interface if you rely on those.
