About Text display

Text display shows text to participants without asking anything. Use it for instructions, a short introduction to the next questions, a note about privacy, or a thank-you in the middle of the survey. It can also show links and answers from earlier questions.

Add a Text display question

1. Click the purple + in the top bar. The question type picker opens.

2. Under Text, click Text display. The question appears at the end of the current question group.

3. Click Your question here and type your text. The toolbar that appears when you click the text formats it.

Settings that matter

Select the question to open its settings on the right.

• Condition designer (Simple tab): shows the text only to some participants, for example a note for people who answered No earlier. See Conditions.
• CSS class(es) (Advanced > Display): gives the text a class of your theme, for example to highlight a note. See Style questions with CSS.

How the answers are stored

Text display collects no answer.

FAQ

Should I use Text display or the description of the question group?

The group description appears at the top of the page, under the group name. A Text display can stand anywhere between the questions and can have its own condition. Use the description for the introduction of a page and Text display for notes in between.

Can I show a participant's earlier answer in the text?

Yes. Write the question code in curly brackets, for example {Q019}. See Piping.
