About survey groups

A survey group is a folder for surveys: one per team, customer or project. Groups keep a long survey list manageable, because you can filter the list by group. A group can also give the surveys in it default settings and theme options, and it has permissions of its own. Every new survey starts in the group Default, which always exists.

Survey groups are not question groups. Question groups organize the questions inside one survey. See Overview: Survey structure.

Create a survey group

1. Click Surveys in the top bar (1) and open the Survey groups tab (2).

2. Click Create survey group (3).

3. Fill in the form and click Save and close. The group opens in its edit view, and it appears in the Survey groups tab.

In the picture: 1 Code, a short name that is filled in for you, 2 Title, the name you see in filters and menus, 3 Parent group, to place the group inside another group, 4 Save and close.

Tip: Give each group a clear code, for example HR or SALES. Set survey group in the survey list shows the codes, not the titles.

Put surveys in a group

• One survey: open it in the editor, click Settings in the left toolbar and then General, and choose the group under Group. The change is saved automatically.
• Several surveys: in the workspace, switch to the list view, select the surveys with the checkboxes, click Set survey group in the bar at the bottom, choose the group and click Change.

To see the surveys of one group, choose it under Group in the list view.

Edit or delete a group

Open the ... menu of the group in the Survey groups tab (4):

• Edit survey group changes the title, description, order and parent group. The tab Surveys in this group lists the surveys of the group, and Themes options for this survey group sets theme options for all of them.
• Permission gives other administrators rights on the group.
• Survey settings sets defaults for the surveys in the group.
• Delete survey group removes the group. It is greyed out while the group still contains surveys: move them to another group first. The group Default cannot be deleted.

FAQ

Does deleting a group delete its surveys?

No. A group that contains surveys cannot be deleted at all. Move the surveys to another group, then delete the empty group.

Can a survey be in two groups?

No. Each survey belongs to exactly one group. Use parent groups to build levels, for example a group per department inside a group per country.
