Default survey settings
About default survey settings
Configuration > Settings > Global survey holds the default values of the survey settings for your whole site: administrator and email addresses, format, theme, presentation, participant, notification and publication settings. A survey uses these values for every setting that neither the survey nor its survey group sets itself. Changes apply at once to all survey groups and surveys that inherit the setting, not only to new surveys.
Change the default survey settings
Click Configuration in the top bar.
Under Settings, click Global survey.
Pick a page on the left (1), change the values and click Save (3).
In the picture: 1 the pages General, Presentation, Participant settings, Notifications & data and Publication & access, 2 the note that changes affect everything that inherits the values, 3 Close, Save and close and Save.
What you can set

Where a survey gets its settings
Every survey setting has three levels:
- The survey itself, under Settings in the editor.
- Its survey group, under Survey settings in the ... menu of the group.
- This page.
A setting that the survey doesn't set comes from its survey group. A setting the group doesn't set comes from this page. Even here, Theme can inherit: Inherit [fruity_twentythree] means the default theme of your Global settings.

Do existing surveys change when I save here?
Yes, every survey and survey group that inherits the setting changes at once. A survey or group with its own value for that setting keeps it.
What is the difference between Global settings and Global survey?
Global settings are about the site: emails, security, languages, storage. Global survey holds the default values of survey settings. See Global settings.
Where do I set that participants can save and continue later?
