Survey groups let you organize the surveys in your survey list into categories — by department, campaign, or topic. Groups can be nested under a parent group, and group-level settings (including theme options) can be inherited by the surveys inside a group, so you can manage shared configuration and consistent branding in one place instead of survey by survey.
Note: survey groups organize surveys in the survey list. They are unrelated to question groups, which organize questions inside a single survey.
Survey groups themselves — creating, editing, and deleting them — are managed in the classic admin interface; the new survey list has no group-management tools. Assigning a survey to an existing group is done in the new survey editor, under Settings → General. Each section below notes which interface it uses.
By default, the user who creates a group is its owner and holds all permissions on it. Separate survey-group permissions (create, view, update, delete, security, and "survey settings for surveys inside group") can be granted to other administration users; note that permissions on a group do not automatically grant permissions on the surveys inside it.
This works for both new and existing surveys. A user can only assign a survey to a group they can see.
The classic survey list offers a group filter to show only the surveys in one group. The new survey list's only survey filter is Status; it has no group filter.
The Surveys in this group section of the edit view works as a filter: it lists only the surveys belonging to the group, and you can open and edit them directly from there.
Theme options: the classic group edit view also exposes theme options for the group — group-level defaults that the surveys inside the group can inherit.
Open the Surveys menu → Survey groups tab, open the group's ... (Action) menu, and choose Delete survey group. Deleting a group does not delete the surveys in it; they remain in the survey list. The Default group (ID 1) cannot be deleted — its Delete survey group option is greyed out.
