About Gender

Gender is a ready-made question with the answers Female and Male. It needs no answer options, so it takes a few seconds to add. When the question is not mandatory, participants can also pick No answer.

Add a Gender question

1. Click the purple + in the top bar. The question type picker opens.

2. Under Ranking & rating, click Gender. The question appears at the end of the current question group.

3. Click Your question here and type your question, for example "What is your gender?".

Settings that matter

Select the question to open its settings on the right.

• Display type (Simple tab): Buttons shows large buttons with symbols, Radio a plain list of radio buttons.
• Mandatory (Simple tab): On requires an answer and removes No answer.

How the answers are stored

The answer is F for Female and M for Male, and empty for No answer.

FAQ

Can I add more answers, for example "Diverse" or "Prefer not to say"?

Not to this type: its answers are fixed. Use List (radio) or Single choice buttons and type the answers you need.

Can I store the answers encrypted?

Yes. Turn on Store answers encrypted under Advanced > General before you activate the survey. See Encrypt personal data in your survey.
