About Single choice buttons

Single choice buttons shows the answer options as a row of buttons. Participants click one button, and it turns to the color of your theme. Buttons are large and easy to tap, which makes this type a good choice for surveys filled in on phones and for short scales such as Daily, Weekly, Monthly.

When the question is not mandatory, No answer is one of the buttons.

Add a Single choice buttons question

1. Click the purple + in the top bar. The question type picker opens.

2. Under Single choice, click Single choice buttons. The question appears at the end of the current question group.

3. Click Your question here and type your question.

4. Click the first answer option and type it. Add answer below the last option adds another one. Keep the labels short: they have to fit on a button.

Settings that matter

Select the question to open its settings on the right.

• Mandatory (Simple tab): On requires a choice and removes the No answer button.
• Other (Advanced > General): adds an Other: option with a text field.
• Answer options order (Advanced > Display): shows the buttons in random order.
• Assessment value (Advanced > Logic): gives the answer options points for assessments.

How the answers are stored

The answer is the code of the chosen button, for example A001, exactly as for List (radio). Single choice buttons is a question theme of List (radio): only the look differs.

FAQ

How many buttons fit in a row?

The buttons share the width of the question. Up to about seven short labels read well. For more options, use List (radio) or Dropdown.

Can I change the color of the selected button?

The color comes from your survey theme. Change it under Presentation > Theme options. See Overview: Themes.
