General settings
About the general settings
The general settings hold the basics of a survey: its languages, who owns it, who sends its emails, where it sits in your workspace and how its questions are split into pages. Open them with the gear icon in the left toolbar and then General. Changes are saved as you make them.
The settings
1. Survey languages: every language the survey runs in. Click the field and pick a language to add it, or click the x on a language to remove it. Participants choose among the languages on the welcome screen. Translate the texts under Translations in the left toolbar. See Run a survey in several languages with Quick translation.
2. Base language: the language you write the survey in and its default language. Set it before you add translations.
3. Survey owner: the user who owns the survey and has every permission on it. Pick another user of your survey site to hand the survey over. To share a survey without handing it over, use Survey permissions.
4. Administrator and Administrator email address: the name and address that participants see as the sender of invitations, reminders and other survey emails. Use an address you read.
5. Bounce email address: where delivery failure messages for survey emails go, for example for invitations to addresses that do not exist.
6. Group: the survey group the survey belongs to in your workspace. See Overview: Workspace.
7. Format: how the questions are split into pages:
- Group by group (default): one page per question group.
- Question by question: one page per question.
- All in one: every question on a single page.
Under the general settings, Theme sets the look of the survey. Its options are in Presentation. See Overview: Themes.
Tip: Short surveys on phones work best Group by group with small groups. All in one suits very short forms; long surveys on one page lose participants.
